Thursday Thoughts

Thoughts lately are of a medical bent…

1) Medical professionals always tell you what your blood pressure is after they take it, but I have no idea what those numbers mean or how I’m supposed to react.

2) I wish they’d tell me my blood type. I don’t know it and that’s probably important info.

3) If you empty a colostomy bag on the side of the road can you be fined for public urination?

  1. I don't know about anyone else, but my blood pressure is always higher at the doctor's office because I'm anxious, so how accurate can it be?

And now all I can think of is that Seinfeld episode where Jerry and George get in trouble for urinating in the parking garage…. 🙂

  2. I think to tell my patients what their blood pressure means, but most of them are in pain while laboring, so they don't care!

If you want to know your blood type, go donate blood! It's easy, free, and it gives back!

Are their laws about public defecation? Because colostomy bags don't hold urine…still a great question!

  3. Oh my gosh – I did NOT know that. So what do you all a bag that holds urine?

Unfortunately nobody wants my blood b/c I'm anemic (check out the awesome coloring). I do have my birth certificate though, so I should probably check that…

  4. Ugh. I hate seeing typos in my comments three days later. “I like to tell” not “I think to tell” and “there” not “their.” I'd like to blame those on autocorrect, but who knows what really happened.

Anyway, it would be a urostomy bag – although some people also live at home with foley catheters, so they could drain that bag too.

What awesome coloring am I looking at?? Your birth certificate might have it, but they don't check the baby's blood type on every baby – just if the mom is Rh negative or O+ (at least at my hospital in AZ!).

Let's just assume that our society is smart enough to have a law against public defecation. If not, I don't want to know!

  5. I think as long as they're cheerful about your blood pressure, you're okay. lol The norm is a top number between 90 and 120, and a bottom number that's between 60 and 80 (googled it lol).

I was going to say the colostomy bag doesn't hold urine, but someone beat me to it. lol
